From mosaics to masked images, find and design artworks of magnificent flora and fauna from nature. Learn about the plants and animals whose leaves and blossoms, feathers and fur will be used to create artistic treasures. Explore the story of Beauty and the Beast and try to determine what animal may have been the inspiration for his creation. Experiment with different techniques that artists use to create their pieces such as Degas’ dancers and Chihuly’s blown glass.
Mrs. Joan Batson will teach this imaginative camp using a variety of media including crayons, paint, plaster, and charcoal, to make works from paintings to sculptures. Some unconventional materials also will be used to produce magnificent masterpieces! Everyone loves the soft fuzziness of the catkins, which are actually the flowers of the pussy willow tree. Just wait until you hear how the branches are used in the Dyngus Day celebrations! Yeah, we may not want to encourage that one.
